A team of U.S. government agents is sent to investigate the bombing of an American facility in the Middle East.
Attorney General Gideon Young: I'm gonna bury you. FBI Director James Grace: You know, Westmoreland made all of us officers write our own obituaries during Tet, when we thought The Cong were gonna end it all right there. And, once we clued into the fact that life is finite, the thought of losing it didn't scare us anymore. The end comes no matter what, the only thing that matters is how do you wanna go out, on your feet or on your knees? I bring that lesson to this job. I act, knowing that someday this job will end, no matter what. You should do the same.
[last lines] Adam Leavitt: Fleury. Tell me what you whispered to Janet, in the briefing, to get her to stop crying about Fran, you know, before all this, before we even got airborne. What'd you say to her? Aunt: Tell me, what did your grandfather whisper in your ear before he died? Adam Leavitt: You remember? Ronald Fleury: I told her we were gonna kill 'em all. 15-Year-Old Grandson: Don't fear them, my child. We are going to kill them all.
Adam Leavitt: We're going to Riyadh? Is that right? Ronald Fleury: Yep. Grant Sykes: State Department said yes? Ronald Fleury: Nope. Adam Leavitt: White House? Ronald Fleury: Nope. Adam Leavitt: We bringing security? Ronald Fleury: No. Adam Leavitt: This is really going to suck, I think.
Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: You cannot touch evidence. Please leave it. You cannot question anyone without me present, touch a dead Muslim, or leave my sight at any time. Your safety is my primary concern. Ronald Fleury: I thought your primary concern would be the investigation. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: And you would be mistaken. Grant Sykes: I think this is one of those something happens to us, his head comes off kind of deals. You're our babysitter, right? Adam Leavitt: We call that a babysitter.
Ronald Fleury: Does he know where Bin Laden is? That would be a huge promotion for me.
Ronald Fleury: [seeing Schmidt almost vomiting] Schmidt, you all right? Damon Schmidt: Yeah. Ronald Fleury: You sure? Damon Schmidt: Mmmhmmm. Ronald Fleury: All right. Don't throw up on your tie.
Adam Leavitt: It's LEH-vitt, not Le' Vesque. I'm not a goddamn French-Canadian.
Janet Mayes: [while playing basketball] This is the kind of radical circumstance that could have seriously upped Shaq's free throw percentages. I mean, you take a man, you send ship him off to Riyadh. No cell phones, no girls, no booze. Nothing but being locked in a gym. He could have been shooting, what, seventy, eighty percent? Lakers would still be together. Kobe and Shaq, lovers forever. Ronald Fleury: I don't know about that part. Kobe's a hater.
Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: I'm forty-two years old. I have two daughters and a son. Beautiful son. And I find myself in a place where I no longer care about why we are attacked. I only care that one hundred people woke up a few mornings ago, and had no idea it was their last. When we catch the man who murdered these people, I don't care to ask even one question. I want to kill him. Do you understand? Ronald Fleury: Yes, I do.
General Al Abdulmalik: We found six more uniforms than you were assigned in your possession. That is a crime, especially when you consider the attackers wore our uniform. Sergeant Haytham: I sweat. I need more uniforms because I must change during shifts. Look at my shirts. Look. General Al Abdulmalik: I am not interested in your sweat.
Adam Leavitt: What are four people supposed to do over there in five days, anyways? Grant Sykes: Weren't you the one that practically demanded we go this morning? Adam Leavitt: Yeah, I didn't say I. I said FBI.
Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: [after a fight breaks out] Are you okay? Ronald Fleury: No, are you okay? He slapped you.
Grant Sykes: This whole trip is gonna be like deep sea fishing in Florida. You pay seven-hundred bucks for a boat, sit on your can out in the ocean. Crew jumps around, screams, points, throws out fish bait, you catch nothing.
Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: [noticing mob gathering nearby] This is not a good neighborhood. Grant Sykes: Yeah, no shit.
Ronald Fleury: [after realizing he's being blackmailed by Fleury] What's your point? Prince Thamer: I want in immediately. Ronald Fleury: Define immediately. Ronald Fleury: Right the fuck now! I mean immediately!
Grant Sykes: [upon seeing a video of a terrorist attack] They so love to flaunt their work.
Grant Sykes: This hole is the case. Your men are contaminating this. You understand evidence? Little things that are clues? Clues can be very helpful to a fellow trying to solve a crime. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: You want to go into the hole? Grant Sykes: Yeah! Absolutely. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: No.
Adam Leavitt: How many princes are there? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Over five thousand. Ronald Fleury: Does every prince get a palace this big? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Some get bigger. Adam Leavitt: And who pays for all this? Grant Sykes: Exxon. Chevron. Shell.
Ronald Fleury: [refering to the Six Million Dollar Man] That's my shit. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: [confused] You need bathroom?
Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: [to Leavitt] I don't like your jokes.
[before breaking open a door in terrorist apartment] Ronald Fleury: Which side do you think Allah's on? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: We are about to find out!
Adam Leavitt: [Asking about Saudi Arabia] What's it like there on the ground? Grant Sykes: A bit... like... Mars. Adam Leavitt: Mars? Sounds like I didn't pack right.
Damon Schmidt: [to Janet Mayes while preparing her to meet the Saudi Prince] Can we dial down the boobies?
Ronald Fleury: You ever been to the U.S., Colonel? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Yeah, I have been there once. I spent four days in Quantico. I also saw Michael Jordan play for the Washington Wizards.
Prince Ahmed Bin Khaled: Four FBI agents will be allowed to land at Prince Sultan Air Base this evening. General Abdulmalik, Chief of Investigative Services for the National Guard, has been put in charge of solving this crime. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Your Highness. I know General Abdulmalik. I attend his interrogation of one of my men. The General does not have investigative experience. Prince Ahmed Bin Khaled: The attackers wore police uniforms. Your uniforms. Some of your men may have been involved with this cell. May still be involved. Al Ghazi, consider yourself lucky even to have a role at all. The Americans are our guests for five days. Take extremely good care of them and I want them to leave as safe as they arrived. Understood? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Yes, Your Highness.
Damon Schmidt: I got a plane. It's fueled up, it's ready to go, it's got your name on it. You guys want to go, lets do it. Ronald Fleury: You talk a lot. A little too much. Damon Schmidt: [padding his chest] You wearing a vest? You got nothing. You got nothing, big boy. You want to tighten up the kevlar.
[first lines] Narrator #1: After capturing most of the Arabian Peninsula with the help of the Wahhabi Islamic warriors, Ibn Saud establishes the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Ronald Fleury: [holding a dying Al-Ghazi] We got 'em, baby... We got 'em.
Damon Schmidt: [to Fleury] Do you have any idea how much trouble you're in? My boss hates you. He's furious. When you get back home, you're finished. If you make it back home.
Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: This is not a game show, Mr. Fleury. And definitely there are no deals made here. There is me telling you what you may or may not do. And there is you doing it. That's it.
Ellis Leach: I met with Prince Thamer at Saudi Embassy fifteen minutes after hearing this morning's news. And after speaking with Thamer, I advised withholding additional U.S. personnel, because a large part of the religious justification for these bombs is the presence of current U.S. personnel. More boots on Saudi soil is only gonna make an already combustible situation that much more so. Maricella Canavesio: My two cents. The Saudis have not asked for FBI help. They've done the opposite. This is just going to further complicate an already deteriorating situation with one of our few remaining allies in the Middle East. Attorney General Gideon Young: Rock solid logic. FBI Director James Grace: Well, we would like to be on the record as saying the FBI would like an Evidence Response Team on the ground in Riyadh now. Ellis Leach: Doesn't your team in that country represent exactly the kind of... of target that these masters would die for? They'd trade ten of their own for one of you. FBI Director James Grace: Not to go after criminals because they might try to harm you is really not a policy of the FBI. See, we try not to say uncle. We try.
Attorney General Gideon Young: [reading] Contrary to the State Department policy, the FBI has sent an investigative team to Saudi Arabia. In so doing, I have come before this committee with a painful admission. I have lost all confidence in the FBI. Especially its uppermost echelon. Attorney General Gideon Young: [to Director Grace] That's you, baby. Attorney General Gideon Young: [continues reading] Entrenched and outmoded, the leadership has show itself fearful of the pioneering thoughts this committee and I have tried to imbue. It is thus an agency at contretemps hindering our every effort. Attorney General Gideon Young: [to Director Gates] And by "committee", I mean the fucking Senate Select Committee on Terror. FBI Director James Grace: So you're going before the Senate Select Committee and not to the President who appointed you. Why is that? I bet the President wasn't the audience you thought he'd be. I'll bet the President realized that you can't have voters asking why the second-longed serving FBI director got fired for doing his job. For sending agents to Saudi Arabia just seven months before mid-term elections. Attorney General Gideon Young: So you want to bet? FBI Director James Grace: Mister Attorney General, I obviously already have. I bet my job. Attorney General Gideon Young: I'm gonna bury you. FBI Director James Grace: You know, Westmoreland made all of us officers writer our own obituaries during Tet. When we thought the Cong were going to end it all right there. And once we clued into the fact that life is finite, the thought of losing it didn't scare us anymore. The end comes no matter what. The only thing that matters is how do you want to go out? On your feet or on your knees? I bring that lesson to this job. I act, knowing that someday this job will end no matter what. FBI Director James Grace: You should do the same.
General Al Abdulmalik: Colonel Al Ghazi, it appears you have problems within your department. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: It seems that we all have problems.
Attorney General Gideon Young: As far as the public's concerned, lets try to view this through FBI agents' eyes. Is that clear? Ronald Fleury: Sir, how do you suppose this is viewed through FBI agents' eyes? Attorney General Gideon Young: Pardon me? Ronald Fleury: I said, in this situation, how do you suppose this is viewed through our eyes? Attorney General Gideon Young: It's a variation of vengeance. When one of your own is killed, agents lose their analytical skills.
Ronald Fleury: This is too pretty of a plan to be hatched in just one day. He had to come here a couple of times. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: This man is a Saudi. See, if foreigners were here, someone would say something. Ronald Fleury: So maybe Abu Hamza? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Could be. Ronald Fleury: Yeah. Then we should ask around. Get out of here and some people... Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: [interrupting] They won't tell you anything. Ronald Fleury: Why not? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: He's like Robin Hood to you. People feel sympathy to him.
Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: You're not safe at night. Grant Sykes: [sarcastically] Oh, we're safe during the day, huh?
Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Look at me, Haytham. You saved lives today. I have no doubt about that. Sergeant Haytham: I love my country. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: I know. Sergeant Haytham: Never in my life, never have I thought to betray my country. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Believe me, I know. That's why I want you to use all your energy, anger, and frustration as a tool to drive us to capture those criminals and bring them to justice.
Grant Sykes: Look, you want to go? We go. I got you. But you have to check yourself. Ronald Fleury: I'm checked. Grant Sykes: Okay. I'm just checking that you're checked.
Adam Leavitt: Need a little check? Huh? Ah, you big queer!
Grant Sykes: [upon seeing Al Ghazi inspecting hands of dead bodies] Fingerprints are on the other side. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: I'm not looking for fingerprints. Grant Sykes: Then what are you doing? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Fingers.
Ronald Fleury: [to Prince Bin Khaled] I know you want him caught. We want him caught. So let us help you. America's not perfect, not at all, I'll be the first to say that, but we are good at this. Allow us to help your men go catch this criminal.
Ronald Fleury: I just need to ask your boys some questions about maybe somthing that they saw the other night. Aaron Jackson: What do you want to ask my boys about the other night? What do you want to ask them about? You want to ask them about watching their mother bleed to death? Is that what you want to ask my boys? My five year old boy, when I got home, had a box of band-aids and he was trying to put his mama's mouth back on.
Maddy Ripon: Saudis, like Americans, don't do manual labor.
Kevin Fleury: What happened? Ronald Fleury: Some bad things happened. Kevin Fleury: A lot of bad people out there. Ronald Fleury: Yeah. But you're not one of them.
Adam Leavitt: Sir, I already know the answer to this, but is there any chance in hell we get to go over there and use our hands? Ronald Fleury: If you already know the answer, why ask the question?
Damon Schmidt: [to Fleury] Revel in the fact that when you get home, for a few weeks, your shit's not gonna stink.
Adam Leavitt: Sir, not to beat a dead horse, but if there was ever a time for us to put boots on Saudi sand, I mean, don't you think this is it? Janet Mayes: There's no way, Adam. They will never allow it. Adam Leavitt: Then let's just ask. Janet Mayes: The Saudi Royal Family cannot appear as if they're losing control. If they lose control of their country, lose control of the people, they risk losing control of the oil. And that's not going to happen.
Ronald Fleury: So why'd you get into this, Al Ghazi? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Into what? Ronald Fleury: Being a cop. Why'd you get into being a cop? I mean, with all this violence and chaos, it seems so crazy. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: It's because of, uh, The Green Beast. Ronald Fleury: The what? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: The Green Beast. Ronald Fleury: What the hell is The Green Beast? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: It's a TV show when I was kid. You know, a man who turns green when he's very angry, he turns green and... Ronald Fleury: Oh, oh, yeah, The Hulk. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Yeah, you know. He was killing just bad people because they did wrong.
Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: We need more security here before we go on. Ronald Fleury: Are you fucking kidding me? You got a fucking army. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: I'm not kidding you, okay? And don't talk to me with this language.
Francis Manner: [to Fleury] You got to get out here. Do you understand me? You got to get out here. Don't take no for an answer.
Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: I want to take you somewhere. Ronald Fleury: Where? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Someone who can lead us to catch the big dog. Ronald Fleury: More like big fish. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Big fish? Ronald Fleury: Yeah, big fish. Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: A dog, uh... a dog's more bigger than a fish.
Range Rover Driver: How are you today, sergeant? Sergeant Haytham: Sun is shining. Wind is blowing. How bad can I be doing?
Aaron Jackson: [to Al-Ghazi] Does Allah love your kids more than he does mine? Does Allah love your wife more than he does mine? Leave me the fuck alone and don't ever come back to my house! I should have went home a long goddamn time ago! [heads back inside]
Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Tonight, we have the dinner in the palace. Uh, Miss Mayes, she can't be there. It's only men. Ronald Fleury: Only men? Colonel Faris Al Ghazi: Yeah, you know, tradition. Ronald Fleury: That's gonna be boring.
