Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is a Pakistani journalist and filmmaker. She won an Academy Award and 2 Emmy Awards for her documentaries; Pakistanis Taliban Generation in 2010 and Saving Face in 2012. Her Oscar win for Best Documentary for Saving Face made her the first Pakistani to win the coveted Academy Award. She is also the first non-American to win the Livingston Award for Young Journalists. On 23 March 2012, Pakistani president conferred the highest—civilian award Hilal-e-Imtiaz on Obaid-Chinoy for bringing honor to Pakistan as a filmmaker.Time magazine named Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy in their annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world for 2012.
